Peterborough-Kawartha MPP Dave Smith says the 2025 Ontario Budget delivers real measures aimed at easing financial pressure while investing in key areas like health care and economic development.
As Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Finance, Smith played a direct role in shaping the plan. He told PTBOToday.ca the goal was to make life more affordable across the province — and that starts by reducing fees.
One permanent change in the budget is to the provincial gas tax, which Smith says will put money back in people’s pockets.
Smith also highlighted investments to support health-care infrastructure and manufacturing. The province plans to expand the Ontario Made Manufacturing Investment Tax Credit and move forward with long-term strategies to build the economy.
The budget includes proposals to make fuel tax cuts permanent and doubles down on efforts to build housing and infrastructure across Ontario.
