The City of Peterborough has started routine hydrant flow testing in the northwest part of the city, with work scheduled to run weekdays from today until May 31.
Sean Skelly Contracting is completing the testing on behalf of the city, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The affected area includes neighbourhoods from Aylmer Street and Chemong Road west to the city limits and from Sherbrooke Street north to the city limits.
Residents in these areas may notice discoloured or cloudy water while the testing is underway. If this happens, the city recommends running the cold water tap closest to the point of entry until the water runs clear.
The testing is part of regular maintenance to help ensure the reliability and performance of the water distribution system.
