Peterborough residents will get a chance to help shape the future of Charlotte Street West later this month.
The City is hosting a public open house on Thursday, May 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Peterborough Public Library, where community members can learn more about the Charlotte Street West Streetscape Project and provide input on the early conceptual design. A presentation by the project team is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in the Friends of the Library Community Room.
The redesign aims to transform the stretch between Park Street and Aylmer Street into a safer, more accessible and vibrant gateway to the downtown core. Goals include improving options for walking, cycling, transit and driving; supporting travel for people of all ages and abilities; enhancing streetscape features and amenities; and creating a welcoming space that encourages downtown activity.
The project builds on previous studies and consultations, and reflects the City’s current Official Plan, Transportation Master Plan, and other planning documents.
