Peterborough Police are reminding drivers they must stop for school buses in all lanes when lights are flashing and the stop arm is out, even on four-lane roads.
The warning comes after multiple complaints about vehicles failing to stop in areas like Lansdowne and Ashburnham and Parkhill and Hedonics. A violation could cost you $490 and six demerit points.
Provincially, the Ontario Provincial Police say they’re seeing a spike in school bus-related crashes and are urging caution.
Each school day, more than 800,000 Ontario students ride the bus, one of the safest ways to get to school. But keeping it safe takes everyone’s cooperation.
