A new creative space has opened its doors in downtown Peterborough.
Local photographer Kayla Le Franc celebrated the grand opening of Studio 5 on May 2 during First Friday, transforming a unit in the historic Commerce Building on Water Street into a bright, flexible studio space.
Specializing in portrait, branding, family, and wedding photography, Le Franc said the opening marked a personal and professional milestone. “Standing there as a mom, a wife, and a woman building something from the ground up… and having my son cut the ribbon with me — that was everything.”
Le Franc credited the Starter Company Plus program through Community Futures Peterborough for helping her grow the business. Rose Terry, who manages the program, said, “It was originally part of her five-year plan, but she’s moved with such clarity, confidence, and success that she launched far ahead of schedule.”
Studio 5 will serve as Le Franc’s home base but is also available for rent by other photographers, videographers, and content creators. The opening event featured studio tours and refreshments, offering a glimpse into what she hopes will be a hub for collaboration and community.
