You can make it three straight election victories for Dave Smith in Peterborough-Kawartha.
The Progressive Conservative incumbent picked up a close victory on Thursday night, earning another term at Queen’s Park. As of 11:10 p.m., Smith had just over 21,000 votes which equalled about 41 per cent of ballots cast – his best result to date.
Smith says he’s thrilled with the new mandate, and is excited to finish some of the big projects he has started.
Coming in second, first-time Liberal candidate Adam Hopkins with more than 18,000 votes. The Warsaw resident and senior vice-president with the First Nations Technical Institute says this was a real interesting experience.
Rounding out the top three was New Democrat Jen Deck with just under 9,000 votes. Deck, who also ran back in 2022, feels she ran a strong campaign.
