The Ontario Provincial Police OPP has launched a new Victim Portal and website through its Serious Fraud Office (SFO) to enhance support for individuals impacted by fraud cases under its investigation.
The secure and user-friendly Victim Portal provides fraud victims with streamlined access to case updates, communication with victim liaisons, and information about their rights and available resources. Victims involved in SFO-investigated cases will be invited to access the portal through a liaison officer.
Developed in collaboration with victim liaisons, fraud investigators, Crown prosecutors, and technology experts, the Portal is designed to enhance communication and ensure victims receive timely updates and assistance. It also allows liaisons to efficiently share important case developments with multiple victims simultaneously.
The launch aligns with the principles of the Canadian Victims Bill of Rights, reinforcing the OPP’s commitment to supporting those affected by fraud.
In addition to the portal, the updated website offers resources on fraud prevention, how to report fraud, victims’ rights, and the criminal justice system. The website and portal are mobile-friendly for convenient access.
