A multi-agency law enforcement operation led by the Ontario Provincial Police Community Street Crime Unit resulted in the arrest of five individuals in connection with an ongoing drug and firearms trafficking investigation.
The arrests took place on Thursday, October 3rd, in Peterborough, Campbellford, and Ajax.
The operation was carried out by members of the Peterborough County/Northumberland CSCU, with support from the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, the Peterborough Police Service, and the Durham Regional Police Service.
The initial arrest occurred in Peterborough when 33-year-old Robert Davis of Ajax, was located by police. Davis allegedly attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended. He has been charged with several serious offenses, including possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl, possession of proceeds obtained by crime over $5,000, and multiple firearms-related offenses. Officers seized six ounces of fentanyl, cash, two cell phones, and a loaded prohibited firearm at the time of his arrest.
Following Davis’s arrest, searches were conducted at locations in Peterborough and Campbellford. Police recovered a range of narcotics, firearms, and suspected stolen property, including:
-231 grams of cocaine
-170 grams of MDMA
-90 Percocet pills
-Two long guns and a shotgun
-A handgun
-Stolen electronic equipment
-Ammunition
-E-bikes
Tracy Beaulne, 52, was arrested at the Peterborough address and faces charges related to trafficking MDMA, unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm, and careless storage of a firearm.
A youth, whose identity cannot be disclosed under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was also arrested in Peterborough and charged with trafficking cocaine and MDMA, as well as firearm-related offenses and failing to comply with probation and an undertaking. Both Beaulne and the youth were held in custody pending bail hearings.
A third location in Ajax was also searched, resulting in the seizure of additional firearms, ammunition, jewelry, a bulletproof vest, a gold bar, and a Mercedes C54.
All five suspects are expected to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough in the coming days as the investigation continues.
