United Way Peterborough & District has announced Paul Armstrong as the 2024 recipient of the Scholfield Award of Community Distinction, recognizing his outstanding contributions to the Peterborough community.
The announcement was made Thursday at the United Way’s Stewart Street office, marking Armstrong’s leadership and commitment to addressing local issues.
The Scholfield Award, established in 2004, honours individuals or organizations that demonstrate exceptional leadership and mobilize positive change within the community. Past recipients include notable community figures such as Marion Burton, Faith Dickinson, and Survivors Abreast, with the first award being presented to philanthropists Paul and Ina Scholfield.
Nominees for the award are evaluated based on their achievement, commitment, leadership, and impact in addressing community needs. Fischer praised Armstrong’s innovative approach, dedication, and success in mobilizing the community, describing him as a key figure in local housing advocacy.
The Scholfield Award continues to celebrate those who embody the spirit of community building, with Armstrong now joining the distinguished list of past honourees.
