The next time we go to the polls in a federal election, the makeup of our riding will be a bit different.
As part of a change in boundaries that became official in April, Peterborough-Kawartha will be known as simply ‘Peterborough’ and will include the city as well as Asphodel-Norwood, Douro-Dummer, Havelock-Belmont-Methuen, Otonabee-South Monaghan, Curve Lake First Nation and Hiawatha First Nation.
The impacts will also be felt in Northumberland-Peterborough South according to MP Philip Lawrence.
Lawrence adds the riding will be called ‘Northumberland-Clarke’.
‘Northumberland-Clarke’ will be comprised of: the Town of Cobourg; the municipalities of Brighton, Port Hope and Trent Hills; a chunk of the Municipality of Clarington; the townships of Alnwick/Haldimand, Cramahe and Hamilton; and the Alderville First Nation Indian Reserve.
Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes now includes the City of Kawartha Lakes; the municipalities of Dysart et al and Highlands East; the Municipality of Trent Lakes; and the townships of Algonquin Highlands, Cavan Monaghan, North Kawartha and Minden Hills.
