Trent University has announced the reappointment of Stephanie Williams to a second five-year term as Vice-President of Human Resources, effective July 1, 2025.
Under Williams’ leadership, Trent University has seen significant advancements in equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) initiatives, student services and support, and the transition to the University Pension Plan. Dr. Leo Groarke, president and vice-chancellor of Trent University, commended Williams for her exceptional leadership, citing her pivotal role in various areas within the university.
Williams, who has been with Trent University for over two decades, has overseen a broad range of responsibilities including Human Resources, Student Services, Campus Safety, Risk Management, Equity, Diversity & Accessibility, and Environmental Health & Safety.
During her tenure, Williams has spearheaded several initiatives aimed at enhancing Trent’s financial stability, employee benefits, and campus inclusivity. Notable achievements include the successful transition of Trent’s pensions to the University Pension Plan, the appointment of Trent’s inaugural director of EDI, and advancements in mental health strategy and Indigenous student support within the Student Affairs portfolio.
Williams played a crucial role in Trent University’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring a safe transition between remote and in-person work and learning, implementing vaccination and screening protocols, and managing the COVID Case Management team.
Expressing her gratitude for the reappointment, Williams stated, “After more than 20 years at Trent, this has been the most rewarding role I have held. I am excited about the future of the institution and what we will accomplish in the years ahead with our exceptional team.”
