Former Peterborough Petes forward Akil Thomas realized a lifelong dream last night as he made his NHL debut with the Los Angeles Kings in a road game against the Winnipeg Jets.
While his time on ice during his debut game against the Jets was limited to just 3 minutes and 42 seconds, Thomas made the most of every moment, seizing the opportunity to showcase his skills at the highest level of the sport.
Prior to the call-up, Thomas was playing in the American Hockey League with the Ontario Reign. In what is now his fourth season with the AHL club, the Toronto native has 22 goals and 21 assists in 61 games.
Prior to the AHL, Thomas played 22 games with the Peterborough Petes, picking up 9 goals and 31 assists during a promising season that was cut short by COVID-19 restrictions.
