Downtown Peterborough will experience some temporary road closures and transit detours during the 21st Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday.
Beginning at 12:30 p.m., several roads will be closed to accommodate the parade staging and procession. These closures include Dublin Street, London Street, McDonnel Street, Murray Street, and a section of George Street from Parkhill Road West to Brock Street. The parade is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., moving south along George Street from Murray Street, with a rolling road closure along this route. All closures are expected to be lifted by 4:30 p.m.
To facilitate parking during the event, residents and visitors are encouraged to utilize downtown parking facilities such as the King Street Parkade, Simcoe Street parking garage, Chambers Lot, Reid Lot, Surface lot on Aylmer St., Del Crary Lot, and Downie Lot. Parking in municipal lots and garages is free on weekends, with reminders to obey on-street parking regulations and accessibility guidelines
In addition, transit routes including Route 2 Chemong, Route 4 Weller, Route 6 Sherbrooke, Route 7 Lansdowne, Route 9 Parkhill, Community Bus 22 (Blue), and Community Bus 23 (Red) will be subject to detours during the road closure period.
