It was not a long stint for Derrick Walser in Red Deer.
The former Petes assistant coach was fired by the WHL squad with just eight games left in the regular season.
The Rebels are currently sitting third in the Central Division at 30-22-2-6, but owner and general manager Brent Sutter pointed to a lack of consistency leading to his decision.
In an interview with CHL.ca, Sutter said this was a difficult decision but it had to be made to get the team moving in the right direction.
Walser spent six seasons with the Petes, but made the decision to go out west last offseason after an OHL championship and Memorial Cup appearance.
Dave Struch took over as the interim head coach.
