You may not know the sport – but it’s coming to your backyard. ‘VOLT Hockey’ is coming to Peterborough very soon.
VOLT Hockey is an inclusive and adaptive form of hockey, specifically designed for individuals of varied abilities.
On the morning of March 1st, local dignitaries were joined at the YMCA by their team and members of the Peterborough Petes to announce the program’s arrival to the Y. President of the Central East Ontario Balsillie Family Branch, David Allen, says he’s excited to offer it.
At the announcement, Allen also noted that registrations open later this month and locals will be invited to help name the team.
In addition to this announcement, the Under the Lock board made the decision to donate $9634.00 from a previous minor hockey tournament to the YMCA of Central East Ontario as seed funding to help bring Volt hockey to Peterborough.
MPP Dave Smith says it will be an excellent opportunity.
