The annual Peterborough Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show is just a stone’s throw away, returning this weekend to the Healthy Planet Arena.
Hosted by the Kawartha Rock and Fossil Club, the 29th edition of the show is Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
Club member and show coordinator Mark Stanley says the goal is to foster greater appreciation of not only our natural resources but also promote the hobby of rock collecting and the lapidary arts. To that end, 24 dealers from across Ontario and Quebec will be on hand along with what has proven to be a popular treat for kids.
Stanley says, like any collecting hobby, some collect for the fun of the activity while others are more hardcore with a return in mind.
Admission is $5 with children under 12 free if accompanied by an adult. For club details, visit www.kawartharockandfossilclub.com.
