Peterborough welcomes the return next month of world renown jazz singer Ada Lee.
Lee, who over a long career performed with the likes of Count Basie, Duke Ellington and Moe Koffman, will headline Home Again on February 8th at Showplace.
The fundraiser for the Peterborough Pathway of Fame that she co-founded will be opened by the Sean Hully Jazz Group with Rob Phillips accompanying Lee on piano.
An Ohio native, Lee moved to Peterborough on 1963 and subsequently founded the Voices For Life Gospel Choir. Her volunteer work in the city earned her a Governor General’s Award and, in 2019, the key to the City of Peterborough.
Lee has lived in Vancouver since 2014, were she still performs at age 96.
Tickets to Home Again cost $35 at www.showplace.org.
