Peterborough’s Historic Red Dog has been sold, with the Hunter Street West pub closing its doors effective November 1st.
Who the buyer is and future plans for the building aren’t known but a longtime employee has confirmed the sale and the closing date on Facebook.
Opened in 1883, the pub has been a revered home to live music over the years, hosting the likes of Neil Young, Sarah McLachlan and the late Jeff Healey, to name just a few.
Still grateful for the opportunity to perform at the Red Dog is Ryan Weber who, with his brother Sam, first took to its stage in 2001.
For his part, Sam Weber credits the late John Greco for embracing him and his brother.
Ryan Weber says the Red Dog’s storied history gave it its “mojo.”
