An explosive third period gave the Lakers the advantage last night as they defeated the Cobourg Kodiaks 12-8, improving their record to 3-1 on the season.
The teams were tied 5-5 after the first period and then 8-8 after the second, before a 4-0 Lakers run in the final frame to seal the deal.
Peterborough was led by Josh Currier who had three goals and two assists with Holden Cattoni, Turner Evans and Austin Hasen all picking up a goal and five assists apiece.
Jr. A Lakers callup DJ Clark picked up his first career Major Series Lacrosse league goal in the second period, finishing the game with two goals and an assist, playing in his third game with the big club.
Landon Kells had 40 saves for the Lakers to secure his second win of the season.
Other scorers for Peterborough included Jordan Stouros with a goal, Thomas Hoggarth with a pair and Taite Cattoni who had a goal and two assists as well as a late third period tilt to complete the Gordie Howe hat trick (which should be aptly renamed the Scott Evans hat trick in lacrosse).
The Lakers are back in action tomorrow night when they hit the road to face the first place Six Nations Chiefs before returning home to host the Kodiaks on Thursday.
