Peterborough’s Porch Pirates For Good uncovered a treasure of non-perishable food items on May 27th, providing a huge boost to Kawartha Food Share and its member agencies.
According to Kawartha Food Share general manager Ashlee Aitken, some 200 volunteers fanned out across the city, collecting donations left by residents on their front porches or doorsteps.
Aitken says as more people rely on food banks to get by, ‘foodraisers’ such as Porch Pirates are more vital than ever.
Kawartha Food Share, notes Aitken, has been blessed to have tremendous community support over the years.
Next up for Kawartha Food Share is the All Hands On Deck food drive in August. That said, people can always make food item donations at any one of a number of supermarkets in the city.
