Two Peterborough men are currently facing charges following a robbery that took place on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:00pm on Tuesday, near the intersection of Aylmer Street and Simcoe Street. Upon receiving a report of a street-level robbery, police promptly responded to the scene, however, both the assailants and the victim had already left by the time they arrived.
Investigations revealed that a confrontation involving three individuals took place, resulting in the victim sustaining a minor injury from a knife. The officers were able to identify the suspects and located the victim.
Later in the evening, around 9:00pm, an officer on routine patrol conducted a traffic stop in the vicinity of George Street and Sherbrooke Street. It was during this stop that the officer noticed that the two wanted males from the earlier robbery were passengers in the vehicle.
In an attempt to escape police, one of the men fled from the vehicle, prompting officers to initiate a pursuit on foot and bicycle. After a short chase, the officers drew their tasers and the suspect complied with their demands and was apprehended without further incident.
The second suspect was taken into custody at the scene of the traffic stop.
A 19-year-old and a 26-year-old, both from Peterborough are facing charges as a result.
