The Peterborough Domestic Abuse Network has released a revised handbook for survivors of domestic and intimate partner violence.
Released in conjunction with Victims and Survivors of Crime Week, the handbook features more trauma-informed language, updated resources for those trying to leave abusive situations, and a checklist detailing the different types, and signs, of abuse.
Network manager Sarah Bass gives an example of just one of the updates provided.
Bass notes victims of trauma of any kind can, and most often do, feel very isolated. The handbook, she says, makes them aware of the supports available to them.
The pandemic, says Bass, left abuse victims feeling more isolated than ever, prompting the pressing need for this revised handbook.
Hard copies of the handbook are available at local agencies that support survivors of domestic violence. An online version is also available.
