Peterborough can look forward to a rocking Saturday night, featuring a lineup of Canadian rock/folk-fusion artists taking over mainstreet at the cozy Jethro’s Bar & Stage right on the centre of Hunter Street.
This evening is one of many stops for BC-based artist, Claire Coupland, who’s touring Eastern Canada until the end of April.
Claire’s touring the extrospective, rock-inspired tunes featured on her latest album, New Light.
After a full month of touring the West Coast, Claire’s coming to the East featuring Toronto-based artist, Sarah Hiltz. “Sarah’s awesome. It’s locking in and it’s going to be beautiful.” Claire said during an interview with PTBOtoday.
While talking about her album, Claire mentioned that she’s honed in on telling stories through the eyes of others to write most of the songs on this album. “I can dig into the well of my own personal experiences, but it’s good for your creative palette to explore other people’s ideas.” she explained. “I really feel like I kicked my songwriting up a notch.”
The album itself was recorded with an LA-based team, using little to no rehearsal for each recording. Claire explained this is a technique her producer, Sam Webber, practices commonly. “I think he just felt it best to see [what the team] brought to the table. I trusted him, he trusted them, and I trusted them.” Claire explained.
Jethro’s is also hosting multiple regional artists, playing just after Claire and Sarah walk off the stage. “They have a lineup that’s stacked all night.” Leaving off during the explanation of the kind of night Peterborough will experience on April 22nd.
The show gets underway at 6pm.
