The search has begun anew for the Peterborough region’s Grandparent of the Year.
Organized by Community Year, this year in partnership with the Peterborough Public Library, the 35th annual distinction sees nominations being accepted until May 1st with the winner to be introduced at a library reception in early June.
Nominators – primarily grandchildren – are asked, among other things, to detail why their relationship with their grandparent, elder or special older person is important in their life and describe the activities they do together.
Community Care donor relations and communications lead Alicia Vandine says sifting through the nominations is a highlight for all involved.
Vandine adds the relationships that children develop and maintain with their grandparents are very special in their lives.
Vandine says partnerships formed for this initiative will ensure the word gets out and nominations pour in.
Nominations can be mailed to Community Care, 185 Hunter Street East, Peterborough, Ontario K9H 0H1, attention Pamela Beauchamp, or email to pbeauchamp@commcareptbo.org
