Fred Batley, former Athletics Coordinator at Fleming College, was inducted into the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Hall of Fame in the Builder category this week.
Throughout his 42–year career in the Athletics Department at Fleming, Fred was dedicated to ensuring the student–athlete experience was a priority, often taking on new roles to enhance it.
In addition to this, he held various roles on the executive committees of both the OCAA and Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Fred was President of the OCAA on two separate occasions (1993–1995 and 2011–2013) and held the role of Vice President for Governance for the CCAA (1999–2002). He also served as CCAA President (2002–2006) and Past President (2006–2008).
In his final year of employment, Fred was the Women‘s Volleyball Convenor for the CCAA as well as Athletic Coordinator at Fleming.
