Electric City Football Club announced two exciting additions to the rosters of their Men’s and Women’s League 1 Ontario Premier Teams, signing versatile high-performer Thalia Lewis and young technical midfielder Ben Creswick.
Thalia Lewis is wrapping up her second year at The University of Western Ontario where she earned a full-ride scholarship. Lewis comes to the Electric City as an identified high-performance player for London Whitecaps FC, where she was twice named the Whitecaps FC Player of the Month. In 2017, she was a Regional Team Champion and is a three-time Ontario Cup finalist.
Head Coach Randy Ribeiro said, “Thalia is a strong, powerful player that we are thrilled to bring in this season. She has an extremely high work rate and is an outright competitor. She will run through a wall for her club and teammates and always leaves everything on the pitch. She has the versatility to play in a couple different positions and is always up for the task. We believe Thalia will transition nicely into our team this season and it will be nice to work with her again.”
Lewis played for Head Coach Ribeiro during his time coaching at FC London.
Lewis said, “I am super excited to be joining Electric City FC this year! I’m looking forward to meeting extremely talented players as well as the coaching staff and becoming familiar with the community! I am thrilled to see the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead this season, and I am determined to make this an unforgettable one. Most importantly, I am ready to get on the pitch and reach my goals as a player and a teammate!”
Nineteen-year-old Ben Creswick joins Electric City from Spain where he played for SD Huesca joining U19s and SD Huesca B. During his time in Spain, he trained with first team of SD Huesca (La Liga 2).
About joining Electric City Creswick shared, “I am very excited for this opportunity to get to the next level and improve with Electric City FC. I’m looking forward to a professional environment and can’t wait to get training and start playing games.”
Coming with experience training with Pacific FC, Creswick is a 5-time BC Provincial Championship winner. Creswick also represented BC at Canadian National Championships.
Head Coach Randy Ribeiro said, “Ben is an exciting young talent that we are looking forward to working with this summer. He is a technical attacking midfielder that has had experience playing abroad and is excited to be back and play in Canada. He is a very intelligent player with a lot of creativity and is dangerous in the final phase. He gets himself into good positions and is always looking to be involved.”
Player announcements will continue as the club gears up for the fast-approaching season home opener on April 15th at Fleming College Sports Complex. Last week Electric City FC announced their Men’s Premier team will be travelling to Halifax, Nova Scotia to play an exhibition match against Canadian Premier League team, the Halifax Wanderers. The match is set for April 8th at 11:00am at Dalhousie University.
