A Peterborough filmmaker is sharing his award-winning animated short film on YouTube in a bid to drum up support for his next film project.
Just under three minutes long, Something Fishy – David Creighton’s first film from back in 2001 – tells the story of Buddy the goldfish who, upon meeting Angie the angelfish, gets his first taste of companionship, shattering his world view on the way to changing his life. Creighton says the message of the film, which won Best Animation at the Chatham-Kent International Film Festival in 2021, is whatever viewers take away from it.
Creighton’s short films have been accepted by close to 200 film festivals and contests. In self-assessing his work, he’s pleased with his progress.
Creighton’s satisfaction lies in creating something that has a long shelf life.
Creighton’s next animated film project, titled The Roaches, is a lighthearted comedy set in a youth hostel where the roach population has somehow learned how to talk. Meanwhile, to view Something Fishy and review, click here
