Those who called Mike Davy their friend can take solace in one indisputable fact – he had the time of his life the night before he died.
A fervent Toronto Maple Leafs fan, Davy took in the January 25th game between the Leafs and the New York Rangers at Scotiabank Arena. One of a group of six brought to the game by Peterborough-based support worker Craig Meredith, Davy died the next morning of a heart attack – less than 12 hours after scratching a very big item – going to a Leafs game – off his bucket list.
Meredith, who operates Strictly Social With Craig Meredith, providing structure and activities for range of clients with both physical and mental challenges, says bearing witness to Davy’s excitement was more than worth the price of admission.
Meredith, who found Davy deceased the morning after, is still reeling from his friend’s passing.
Meredith says the joyful experience of hanging out with a very special group of people has been, and remains, his reward.
Meredith will next take a group to the Raptors’ home game versus San Antonio on February 8.
