Those old enough to remember will recall that table hockey was once all the rage, calling upon superb hand-eye coordination as players got down to business, battling head-to-head in the home version of Canada’s favourite sport.
Well, what’s old is very much new again. Since 2005 when the Peterborough Table Hockey Association was founded, a skilled and dedicated group of enthusiasts has come together at Knights of Columbus Hall on Hunter Street West and gone at it.
Longtime league member Bill Holdcroft says the pandemic interrupted play but, come January, the league will start up again.
Holdcroft adds that no matter what level of table hockey experience one has, there’s a spot for him or her in the league.
Holdcroft says the game’s appeal can be found on many levels.
The league will return to Sunday play but Holdcroft notes it is looking at adding weeknight games to the schedule in order to accommodate players’ schedules. For more information on the league, or to inquire about joining, visit www.ptha.ca
