It was a week and a day since the Petes went to Ottawa, and delivered the 67’s their first loss of the season, and on Saturday, they boarded the bus to do it again.
Both teams were coming off wins the night before, the Petes in Oshawa and Ottawa against Barrie.
For the second straight game, the Petes got on the board early with JR Avon deflecting the puck into the net to give the Petes the advantage.
That lead would be short lived, with Brad Gardiner scoring once in the 1st period, and again in the second period to give the 67’s the advantage.
They would make it a two goal advantage in the third from Luca Pinelli who had a wide open net on the PP to shoot at.
The Petes did get within a goal with Tommy Purdeller scoring his first of his OHL career to cut the lead to 3-2, but late game penalty troubles cost the Petes another goal, resulting in a 4-2 loss.
The ‘Liftlock Lads’ won’t get much of a rest. They have four games next week, including Tuesday night against Hamilton, then in Windsor, Flint and Saginaw next weekend.
