Michael Simpson of the Petes was diagnosed with Type-1 Diabetes when he was just 3-years-old and wants to do all he can to spread awareness of the disease.
The Peterborough Petes announced a game night partnership with Tandem Diabetes Care on Wednesday which will see the Petes host a ‘Diabetes Night’ scheduled for November 24th against the Sudbury Wolves.
Simpson says this is something he’s always been keen to do.
The London-native says he is thankful to the Petes organization for stepping in and helping get this event together.
Simpson has also started a personal initiative to help raise money for kids in the Peterborough community to have the opportunity to go to D-camp, a two-week overnight camp for children with diabetes.
Fans can donate to this great cause in-person at the game or online. On November 24th, there will be a silent auction for a game-worn Simpson jersey and a chuck-a-puck, with all proceeds going towards D-Camp registration fees.
