A new Festival Director has been named for the ReFrame Film Festival.
Officials have announced Kait Dueck is taking over the role from Jay Adam. Dueck most recently worked as House Manager and Volunteer Coordinator of Showplace Performance Centre, and previously attended the Integrated Arts program at PCVS.
Dueck says: “In my capacity as House Manager at Showplace Performance Centre for over a decade, I had the distinct pleasure of working closely with the ReFrame team, which was the highlight of my every season. I am humbled to be a part of the legacy established by ReFrame’s incomparable staff, board and volunteers, and will strive to continue this level of excellence in the enrichment of the social and cultural fabric of our community.”
Dueck is also an alumnus of Carleton University, Trent University, and Fleming College with a formal education focused on gender studies, environmental studies, and the arts through a justice-based lens.
Board Chair Jim Hendry adds her long association with the festival as house manager for Showplace and her commitment to the social justice and environmental principles the festival is built around made her stand out among a number of highly qualified applicants.
