Northcrest Ward councillor Stephen Wright is hoping to seriously upgrade his seat in the Peterborough city council chamber as he campaigns for mayor.
To that end, Wright was out of the gate early, announcing his intention to run in March before formalizing his candidacy on May 3rd – just one day after the nomination period opened for the October 24th municipal election. Now he’s ramping things up to the tune of six to 12 hours a day, door knocking and outlining his platform.
Wright notes one issue in particular is on the mind of most everyone he meets.
With five candidates seeking votes for mayor, the dance floor is crowded. That said, Wright is sure his message is getting through to voters.
As the clock ticks towards election day, Wright says his team is busy putting up close to 1,000 election signs. As for himself, he quotes Olympian Donovan Bailey – “The only way you win a race is to keep looking forward and keep moving.”
Running against Wright for Mayor are: Henry Clarke, Jeff Leal, Victor Kreuz and Brian Lumsden.
