With thousands of students returning to classrooms this coming week, Peterborough Public Health is reminding us that the COVID virus is still very much with us.
Claire Townsend, assistant manager of Family and Community Health, says staying home from school when you’re ill is key to reducing the risk of increased in-school virus transmission.
Townsend adds the number of COVID cases will likely rise this fall due to the colder weather and the spending of more time indoors.
As it has done throughout the pandemic, Peterborough Public Health continues to work closely with schools to keep staff and students safe.
Vaccination, adds Townsend, adds a vital layer of protection. To book an appointment for an initial dose or a booster shot, visit https://www.peterboroughpublichealth.ca/novel-coronavirus-covid-19/covid-19-vaccine-clinic/.
