There could be 52 new residential units coming to the city.
Council supported changing the Official Plan and Zoning By-law at last night’s meeting to allow for development of a six-storey building on Water Street.
The property is on the west side of Water Street, at the northwest corner of the intersection of Water Street and Marina Boulevard in the Edmison Heights area.
The property was redeveloped for a convenience store and gas station in 1970. It was used for commercial purposes until 2003.
According to staff, there are no significant environmental features identified on site and as noted in the Phase One and Phase Two Environmental Site Assessment, the soils have been remediated and there is no evidence of any contaminants in the soil, ground water or sediment on, in or under the property that would interfere with the proposed residential use.
