Second booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine are now available for some residents.
Peterborough Public Health says select residents who are immunocompromised or on immunosuppressive medication can receive the new boosters.
Those residents must be at least 60-years-old or First Nation, Inuit or Metis and have already received a three-dose primary series of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Thomas Piggott explains that a second booster, or fifth dose, is recommended for immunocompromised individuals.
Residents who fit into this category are asked to contact their healthcare provider to confirm their eligibility and receive a referral.
