Ever since she was a kid, Peterborough’s Jayde has had a love and passion for music.
Jayde says as a child, she was influenced by a widespread array of musical genres from both her parents and grandparents, as her taste in music continued to grow.
It really got started when she was around 12-years-old, as Jayde says she had a tough time conversing with others in school and turned to songwriting as a creative and emotional outlet. She taught herself both the piano and guitar, and never looked back.
In 2019, Jayde was featured on season two of The Launch, being mentored by the likes of Jann Arden and Shaun Frank.
Fast forward to today, Jayde says some of her biggest influences are Canadian-artist Lights, as well as Ariana Grande and Lorde. She’s playing shows across Ontario, including recently in both Toronto and London. In the future she has an EP on the way later this year, and says touring is something she’d love to do.
When it comes to challenges along the way, she says sometimes it can be difficult to break traditional means in the music industry and innovate as the industry is so quickly changing with the likes of streaming platforms and social media. As for advice she says following your intuition is important, especially when you have to make tough decisions.
