The Canadian Mental Health Association locally is continuing its work in raising money for a new Mobile Mental Health and Addictions Clinic.
Manager of Community Engagement and Education Jack Veitch says progress has been great so far.
The clinic operates within a custom-built retrofitted bus, it reduces the need for people to travel to find services and can meet more clients in more places. Veitch says right now they’re a little over halfway done the fundraising for the buses, which will serve both Peterborough and surrounding areas.
When it comes to the generosity of the community, Veitch says he’s never surprised to see support from a number of different places.
Two mobile clinics were announced by the CMHA locally last October. One of them would be through provincial funding, while the other would be through fundraising efforts by the CMHA. The local CMHA branch will also be the organization responsible for overseeing the development and operation.
