February is Black History Month, which is a time for celebration of the accomplishments of black people across the world, in Canada, and in Peterborough.
That’s the message from Town Ward Councillor Kemi Akapo.
Akapo, who was one of the first black city councillors in the city’s history alongside Stephen Wright in 2018, feels that representation in politics is important.
Throughout February, PTBOToday.ca will continue to celebrate Black History Month with weekly features.
A full list of events being held this month can be found at the Race Relations Peterborough website, starting with an official launch on Saturday.
