A pair of former Peterborough Petes will represent Team Canada at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
Canada announced its men’s hockey roster this morning, which includes Mason McTavish and Eric Staal.
Staal played three seasons for the Petes from 2000 to 2003, before moving onto the NHL where he won a Stanley Cup with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2006. He also represented Canada at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, winning a gold medal.
McTavish’s tenure with the Petes is much more recent, having been drafted by the team in 2019 and spending his COVID-shortened rookie season with the maroon and white, before being traded earlier this season to the Hamilton Bulldogs.
