The first visit to the Meridian Centre this season was a successful one for the Peterborough Petes, as they picked up a 5-4 victory against the Icedogs.
Zach Lewis opened the scoring for the game, netting his first career OHL goal against Tucker Tynan before Emmett Sproule would make it 2-0 just 22 seconds later.
Brice Cooke would answer for the Icedogs to make it 2-1 with a powerplay marker before the end of the first period.
Onto the second, a few big saves in one end by Michael Simpson led to a breakaway at the other end for Tucker Robertson, who made no mistake and made it a 3-1 score. Moments later, Robertson added another to make it 4-1.
Early in the third period, it was Keegan McMullen with his second goal of the season to make it 5-1 Peterborough. Roughly halfway through the third, Niagara added their second goal of the night thanks to Cameron Peters. The Icedogs would keep the pressure on, with former Petes player Cameron Butler scoring a pair of goals to bring the score to 5-4, which was the final score.
Michael Simpson made 33 saves in the winning effort, his fourth win of the young season.
