Peterborough City and County Paramedics are doing their part to help protect the environment.
Chief Randy Mellow says they’ve launched a few projects, one of which stops ambulances from idling when it isn’t needed.
Mellow also says they’ve started using slightly smaller ambulances, which will result in roughly 164 tons of carbon savings once the whole fleet is replaced.
In 2020, Peterborough County ambulances spent over 680 hours in eco-mode, which saved over $1200 and roughly 5400kg of carbon.
