Teaching was just something Julie Mills was born to do.
The current Grade 1/2 teacher at St. Patrick Catholic Elementary School was inspired early on when she was allowed to stay late and help with tasks such as taking down bulletin boards.
Mills faced a bit of adversity when she originally didn’t get into teachers college, but her drive and determination took her to take classes in Buffalo, New York. She was newly married at the time and drove back and forth each week.
She has taught everything from kindergarten to Grade 7 and loves the challenges connected to each different phase of a students journey.
What exactly is the key to being a good teacher? Mills believes it is all about creating strong relationships not just with the kids but also their parents and her principal.
