A 28-year-old man is facing an assault charge.
Peterborough Police say around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, officers were called to a home in about an unwanted male, however, when they arrived, the man had already left.
Officers located the accused shortly after in the Hunter Street and Queen Street area. The accused yelled at the officers and took off running.
After a short foot pursuit, officers caught up to accused.
During the arrest, the accused resisted and assaulted the officer by punching them in the head. K9 was deployed during which the accused suffered a bite to the bottom of his leg.
The accused was placed in a cruiser where it’s believed the accused then intentionally defecated, requiring the police car to receive a bio-hazard cleaning. He was treated for a dog bite and released from Peterborough Regional Health Centre.
The officer received minor injuries.
The accused arrested and charged with: Assault with intent to resist arrest, Mischief Under $5000, Failure to comply with a release order X2.
