Having a tactical paramedic team to assist Peterborough Police helps keep both police, medics and the public safe.
That’s according to Sgt. Laine Schubert, who says there’s TACMEDS in other communities across Canada as well.
Schubert says right now there’s four members of the unit, but that could change down the road.
TACMED paramedics won’t be armed, but this will have the same protective gear as tactical police officers when they respond to calls in high-risk situations.
