Historically, the auto industry hasn’t been an easy place for a woman to make an impact – but don’t tell that to Monika Carmichael.
The Dealer Principal and General Manager of Trent Valley Honda has helped the Highway 7 location thrive with a dedication to hard work and relationship building.
Carmichael was named General Manager in 1995 and in 2005, she bought her father out. At the time, she was one of only a handful of women owners of Honda dealerships across Canada.
In 2017, the dealership did more than $35 million in sales and added staff to give it 50 employees for the first time in its history.
It is not all business however, as Carmichael takes great pride in her volunteer work and getting behind local charitable endeavours.
She supports Peterborough Musicfest, the Peterborough Lakers, the PRHC Foundation, the United Way and the YWCA’s Walk-A-Mile in Her Shoe’s event.
Last May, her accomplishments were recognized as she was inducted into the Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame.
