Millbrook’s 4th Line Theatre has released details of next year’s 35th anniversary season – a summer-long celebration featuring two world premieres, a tribute to its late founder Robert Winslow and a season launch gala.
Waiting for Gainey, a heartfelt Canadian hockey comedy, will be staged at the Winslow Farm June 29th to July 24th, followed August 3rd to 28th by The Legend of Pearl Hart, which is billed as a thrilling Wild West adventure. Both plays were developed 4th Line’s play development program.
The anniversary will also see a special celebration of Winslow’s career and legacy held on June 4th, followed on July 3rd by the season launch gala which will honour 4th Line Theatre’s journey since it was founded by Winslow in 1992.
Longtime managing artistic director Kim Blackwell says following Winslow’s sudden passing on September 12th, the future of 4th Line Theatre was addressed.
Blackwell says Waiting for Gainey, which she is directing, saw former NHL players have input, former Montreal Canadiens great Bob Gainey among them.
Blackwell says The Legend of Pearl Hart has been in development for more than seven years and is based on a Lindsay woman who found both mischief and fame in the American west.
