Some Peterborough homeowners could receive a $424 property tax credit next year, with applications now open for the city’s Property Tax Assistance Program.
The City of Peterborough is accepting applications from eligible low-income seniors and people with disabilities who need help managing their property taxes.
Qualifying applicants will receive a $424 credit applied directly to their February 2027 interim property tax bill.
Residents who previously qualified for a credit greater than $424 will continue receiving their existing credit amount.
The program is available to residents who meet one of three eligibility categories:
-
Low-income seniors aged 65 and older.
-
Low-income seniors between the ages of 55 and 64.
-
Low-income persons with disabilities receiving benefits through the Ontario Disability Support Program.
Residents who received property tax assistance in 2026 will automatically be mailed an application for the 2027 program.
New applicants can access the necessary forms online or pick them up in person.
