Peterborough’s Dragon Boat Festival has surpassed its fundraising goal, celebrating another successful year with a $382,518.01 cheque presentation to the Peterborough Regional Health Centre Foundation on Tuesday.
The money raised through the 2026 festival will go toward supporting cancer care at PRHC, helping patients and families across the region.
The presentation brought together festival organizers, sponsors, volunteers, paddlers and members of Survivors Abreast at the hospital to celebrate the fundraising achievement.
Festival Chair Michelle Thornton says the donation reflects the dedication and generosity of the community.
Thornton says the festival is about more than fundraising; giving cancer survivors a chance to connect with others who understand what they’ve been through.
