A former Peterborough Petes billet mother has been found not guilty of sexual exploitation and distributing sexually explicit material for the purpose of facilitating sexual exploitation.
Justice Marcella Henschel delivered the verdict Tuesday afternoon following a judge-alone trial involving allegations concerning a former Petes player, who was 17 during the period covered by the charges.
The accused pleaded not guilty to both charges.
During the trial, the player testified about alleged incidents of intercourse, as well as messages and contact that he said formed part of a sexual relationship.
The allegations were first made public in February 2024. A second charge related to sexually explicit material was reported the following month.
The trial began in August of 2026, following a preliminary hearing in August 2025.
A publication ban remains in place, prohibiting the publication of details that could identify protected individuals or disclose restricted evidence.
